Spilling the marTEAni 🍸 on 5 travel hacks that will save you money on travel, and that you probably didn’t know about.
Your love of travel may be directly at odds with how much traveling can cost, from the airfare to hotels to fun activities; it all adds up. Not to mention, the unplanned expenses that pop up. Every budget traveler can use another hack in their repertoire.
So here are my 5 hacks that help me save money on travel; book without breaking the bank.
1. Flights are cheaper when booking Tuesdays at midnight and more expensive on Friday nights.
Tuesdays are when airlines assess where they are for the week on bookings. If bookings are low, the airline will drop the prices. If airlines see people are booking, they will bring the prices back up, but not before you caught yourself a deal.
2. Use a VPN from another country to save big time when booking flights.
A VPN encrypts all your internet traffic the moment it leaves your device. This helps sites not track your cookies and previous search history which ends up telling the site this trip is in high demand, therefore jacking up the prices. The same thing goes for booking in an incognito window. Click here to read more on how to use incognito tabs to book cheaper travel.
3. The cheapest day to depart is Wednesday.
Most vacationers are either on their vacation or just about to leave for their vacation making this the cheapest day to fly out.
4. The cheapest day to return is Tuesday (for domestic flights) and Wednesday (for international).
Again, most vacationers are on their way back from vacation on the weekend or Monday, making Tuesday and Wednesday prime budget days to travel back.
5. Use seatguru.com to find the best seat on your flight
This is a the ultimate source for airplane seating, in-flight amenities, flights shopping, and airline information. Use this as a guide while booking.
