Current times are challenging across the world and with Covid, everyone is trying to recreate at-home experiences. One of my favorite at-home activities was creating an at-home spa for myself. I took a lot of time to treat myself and show more self-love. While the dream of getting back to the spa is more realistic now, we can still recreate those spa days at home.
Set the mood
One of the most defining characteristics of a spa day is the spa experience. This all starts by setting the ambiance and a relaxing environment. So for your at-home spa day, set the spa mood! First things first: clean your space. It’s a bit more challenging to be in full relaxation mode with a messy bathroom and laundry throughout. So the day or morning before your “spa appointment,” take care of your space! Then as you’re getting set up, light some candles or your Himalayan salt lamp, get your calming essential oils diffusing, turn off your phone, and play some relaxing spa music. Dim the lights and add any other touches like fresh flowers or eucalyptus too. These will add to the mood of the space. You’ll want your clean and fluffy towels and bathrobe nearby too!
Choose the right products
With so many products on the market, it can be challenging to choose what you want in your spa-day lineup. This is the day to go all out and pamper yourself, and you want the products to match that tone! Choose products that will make you feel luxurious and pampered, like the Blue Lagoon body care products for example. From scrubs to masks and even bath salts, your at-home spa experience will be unforgettable.
Dry brush
Once your space is set up, start your spa treatment process with dry brushing. Dry brushing is the process of using a brush with stiff bristles against the skin to help exfoliate dead cells from the skin surface and enhance blood flow. Go in circular motions and on your legs brush upwards towards your heart. This is a great habit to incorporate into your everyday routine. Fun methods like dry brushing will give your spa experience an extra boost as well.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy engages your senses and can have profound relaxation and calming effects. Popular essential oils that you’ll see in spas are lavender for relaxation benefits and eucalyptus which is anti-inflammatory along with numerous other benefits. I like to add essential oils to my diffuser and let it fill up the room. But I have seen others add a couple of drops to their wrists and breathe deeply for the aromatherapy benefits.
Draw a luxurious bath
There’s nothing like a luxurious bath at home! Set your bath up with candles, fresh flower petals if you choose (just be sure to remove after), sprinkle Epsom salts throughout, and place your water, towel, and bath essentials nearby. Add a little rose oil for an added aroma effect too!
If you don’t have a bath, hang a bunch of eucalyptus around your shower to create a more spa-like environment, drop some essential oils in at the bed of your shower and breathe in all the benefits.
