Everyone knows the last few days before a trip can be hectic but there are a few things to do before you travel that will really help you feel like you’ve got it together. Whether you are going to the beach for a weekend or traveling abroad for a month (or two, or three), it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all the tasks that need to be done.
When you are looking to make the most out prepping for travel, you do not want to procrastinate. There are so many ideas that will help you with your travel and improve any vacation you might be choosing to take.
Make sure you do as much as you can to understand the important aspects of planning any vacation, and this comes in time and practice. It is hugely important to make sure you think about some of the best ways of being able to improve this process as much as possible. When you think of having the ideal travel experience what does that entail?
To help alleviate a lot of stress and last-minute running around, here are three things to do before you travel.
Make an Action Plan
Itineraries are key. You do not have to know every little detail of your trip, but having a general idea of what you want to do, see or eat while on vacation will help guide your time. This is vital to ensuring you have the most organized and impressive travel adventure you can, and there are plenty of ways of enjoying this planning process. I like to have a glass of wine, explore Pinterest, explore the location tag on Instagram, and mark everything. Ill od that a few times leading up to my trip. You’ll notice that a few things will keep popping up on your feed that will entice you to just book it! Congratulations, you have the first part of your plan. I do my best to come up with ideas and elements that will help me develop a key action plan.
Stocking Up
Once you know where you are going and have a good idea of what you might be doing, making sure you stock up on important gear and clothing will be your next big step. Are you headed to a winter destination? Make sure you have the proper snow outerwear like jackets, snow pants, and other accessories. Or maybe you are heading someplace more tropical? Do you have multiple swimsuits or hair products to help tame your frizzies when your hair hits the humidity? You’ve got to consider important elements that can help you make the most of the trip.
Planning for a trip can be just as expensive as a trip but there are ways to penny pinch in this department. Borrow clothes from friends that have been to a destination similar to where you are going. Buy second-hand. Depop or Poshmark are great for getting inexpensive gear. Rent your clothes! A lot of fashion subscription rentals have a one-time rental option. Instead of dropping $500+ on clothes, spend $100 on high end pieces that you return at the end of the month.
Document Your Trip
Documenting your trip can be done in a number of ways, but photos and videos are the most common. Here are tips you can use to improve your travel photos. Taking photos while on a trip has done more to enhance my experiences traveling than anything else I have done. Keeping a record of your travels, and documenting your experiences allows you to look back on great times as the years go by. Looking back on images from traveling brings you back into that moment and maybe you haven’t thought of that in years! Another great reason is people actually want to see your vacation photos. Reminisce for your self and inspire them to want to take a trip too. Lastly, photography makes you more aware of your surroundings. Once you begin looking for photos, you see much more of the world than if you are just walking through it.
