healthy home

So many of us have been stuck at home for so long that we are desperate to get out, but if there’s one lesson we’ve all learned from being at home for so long is that we need it to be a solid foundation for our health and happiness. Creating a healthy home can do a lot for a persons environment.

I like to think of my home as my temple. This is where I come to find peace. Homes can easily be modified to fit your needs. Whether it’s for work, fitness, or even overall health-conscious choices. You may have already looked at what your home can do for you, but here are a few things that can help you to boost your morale and make you a little bit healthier in the long run.

Fixing Small Issues That Have a Big Impact on Your Health

The problem many people have is that we just do not have any idea of what our home is actually doing to our health. There is a lot to consider when it comes to mold, as well as airborne allergens. It’s important to be aware of these things. I know a few summers ago I needed to call an air conditioning repair company to fix my AC, and they ended up telling me that my apartment had mold in it! So that was a fun process. If you find yourself experiencing cold symptoms and you’ve been at home for a while, this could be the culprit and should be the priority. Investing in an air purifier isn’t a bad precautionary option either!

Sound and Lightproofing Your Home

So many of us do not get the quality sleep we deserve. In order to make sure that our melatonin (the sleep hormone), and adenosine levels (the waking hormone) are working well, we need to get that balance of daytime and night-time. In a healthy home, this begins by regulating your sleep, as well as getting adequate daylight in the morning. An investment well worth the money is installing blackout blinds. Your body needs total darkness in order to rest properly. These come in handy if you work night shifts or have a hard time staying asleep.

My boyfriend’s shift has him getting up before the sun rises so he has a solar clock. This clock gradually brings in light to help the body think the sun is waking them up. It will get brighter and brighter with an alarm that goes off at your designated time.

Adding Houseplants Into the Space

Indoor plants are a little thing that can make a massive difference. There have been many studies that show indoor plants can keep you healthier and happier by improving your mood, lowering stress, and can improve the quality of the air you are breathing. It’s also important to note that looking after a plant is a nice little dose of responsibility, which can make a big difference to our overall happiness.

Adding a Home Gym

Some people feel they do not have the motivation to exercise at home. However, the reality is that we don’t necessarily need to exercise seven days a week. If you are able to have four good days of exercising a healthy home every week, this is more than enough! The great thing about exercise is that your body is not able to tell the difference between a brick wall and a weight. You don’t need to purchase weights, you can easily stimulate the body by attempting to lift something that you cannot. This is one of the fundamental components of isometrics. And this was something practiced hundreds of years ago before gyms existed!

As you can see, there are a number of things you can do that will make a big difference to help you live a healthier lifestyle, and it’s all within your home.
