Hey, friends! So, about two weeks back I started this super rad Money Making Blogging course. This year, one of my main goals is to take my blog to the next level. I haven’t finished the course yet and I have already felt more empowered in my little corner of the internet.
I am not a procrastinator and I put 110% into everything that I do. That is exactly what I am doing with my blog and this course. There is a lot involved on the back end of a blog.
If you have been following me on my Instagram stories, you know the struggles I have been dealing with by switching my blog over from Blogger to WordPress. Those struggles have turned into valuable lessons.
That is what this course has been so great about. Set yourself up for a successful blog with awesome brand views and tools to show off your own personal style from the get-go.
Right now, I bring you my final review on the LadyBoss Blogger Course from the Blogger hosting site (because I am still getting my blog set up on WordPress). I am planning on doing a total relaunch of my blog in mid-July.
Read until the end and see some of the course takeaways I had, get my discount code so you can become a LadyBossBlogger too, and find out who won Elaine Rau’s course!
Course Takeaways
1. Discovering your personal brand
Something I have been spending a lot of time on is my personal branding around my blog. I want there to be no confusion around what Daily Cup of JoJo is about when a new guest makes their way on to my site. I like clean minimalist setups using black and white colors, with bright color driven photos to capture the readers’ eye.
2. Finding your niche
People used to tell me that “Lifestyle” isn’t a niche. Well, the LadyBossBlogger Blogging Course and I have to disagree. There is a way to properly align yourself with the lifestyle niche.
Lifestyle blogging is focused on the blogger themselves, less than the blog. Readers feel a connection with the author and want to see how Jordan from Daily Cup of JoJo would handle something. Lifestyle niches provide a sense of reliability.
3. Invest in yourself
Start with this course and set your blog up with your own house on the internet. Do not build your house on someone else’s land. Always build your platform from the ground up on something that is yours.
Claim your domain name and get going! Design your site, pick out themes that are you, and find equipment and services that will help YOU be successful. It is okay to spend the money on a passion project.
4. Traffic sources
Many bloggers spend so much time on social media sites asking their followers to check out their blog. Instead of doing that, I have optimized the link in my bio to direct followers to an opt-in landing page so they will never miss blog updates. Learning how to let Google do that for me and optimizing my Pinterest profile has been a game-changer in the blogging atmosphere for me. Algorithms come and go but search engines will stay the same.
5. Search engine optimization is not scary
Content has never been too much of a problem for me, but I have learned a lot about Search Engine Optimization over the past few weeks and it is not as scary as I thought it was going to be!
SEO sounded like a power tool of the internet and had always freaked me out. Turns out, I was doing pretty well at it. I just needed to tweak some things along the route.
There are so many automized tools in WordPress to help advance my blog and create a better user experience.
Here are some additional resources I found helpful:
- 7-Day Make Money Blogging
- 21-Day Build A Better Blog
- 5-Day Master Affiliate Marketing
